Rhode Island Chinese Dragon Boat Races & Taiwan Day Festival

September 9th

Festival Pier

100 Tim Healey Way

Pawtucket, RI

Now in its 18th year, the Rhode Island Chinese Dragon Boat Races & Taiwan Day Festival is an extraordinary event for the whole family to enjoy!

Our races are the only one of their kind in the United States as we continue to use the fiberglass Taiwanese-style dragon boats gifted to us from the Republic of China (Taiwan) and incorporate the skill of flag-catching in each race. The Rhode Island Chinese Dragon Boat races are also one of the only races to offer large cash prizes to the winning teams

The races are broken into different divisions...so they're great for both club teams looking for a challenge, and amateur/corporate teams looking to do team-building with their employees and promote their business in a fun & unique way.

The House is delivering articles of impeachment against Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas to the Senate today. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer is expected to move to quickly dismiss the charges. Republicans in the House impeached Mayorkas in February over his handling of the U.S.-Mexico border.        Jury selection is underway for a second day in former President Trump's hush money trial in New York. No jurors were selected yesterday and it's expected to be a lengthy process. When entering the court, Trump said experts are calling the trial a disgrace and it should have been thrown out a long time ago.        Parts of the Midwest are bracing for severe weather today. The National Weather Service says there's an enhanced risk of severe thunderstorms from southern Iowa into northern Missouri and west-central Illinois. Those storms raise the threat of severe hail and possible tornadoes through this evening.        The chairman of the Federal Reserve is throwing cold water on chances of a possible interest rate cut next month. Speaking at an economics forum in Washington, D.C. Tuesday, Jerome Powell said, there's been a "lack of progress" on inflation so far this year and that higher rates should remain as the Fed continues to try to get inflation down to two-percent.        Basketball superstar Caitlin Clark's jersey sales are off the charts. Fanatics sold out of most sizes in Clark's Indiana Fever jersey within an hour of her being selected by the team with the first overall pick in Monday night's WNBA draft. The retailer is currently offering pre-orders for Clark jerseys that it says will ship no later than October 31st.       Shakira's tour dates are out. She announced her World Tour during a surprise Coachella appearance. She'll begin the 14-date tour in November in Palm Desert, California and hit Los Angeles, Miami, Toronto, Brooklyn, and Chicago among others on her way around North America. This is Shakira's first tour since 2018.
