Rubbish and Recycling Holiday Pickup Schedule

In observance of Memorial Day, the Woonsocket Recycle Facility will be CLOSED on Monday, May 25th.
Residents are reminded that curbside pick-up of trash, recycling and yard waste from May 25th to May 29st will be DELAYED BY ONE DAY.

Due to COVID-19 and the need to properly dispose of items that are recyclable; the Recycle Facility WILL BE OPEN Saturday May 23rd from 8am – 11:45am


Local fruits and berries are some of the best things about summer. Recycle the plastic clamshells they come in when you’ve finished enjoying summer’s sweets.

The White House is working on a message saying the United States needs to learn to live with the coronavirus pandemic and that Americans will grow numb to the rising death toll. NBC News reports the White House is preparing a new message on the virus that the country must "learn to live with it." The Washington Post reports White House officials are hoping "Americans will grow numb to the escalating death toll and learn to accept thousands of new cases a day."        The White House is taking a victory lap after a new study of hydroxychloroquine [[ HIGH-drox-ee-klor-eh-quin ]] shows the drug helped COVID-19 patients survive, but scientists still debate its use. According to a study at Detroit's Henry Ford Health System, 13-percent fewer hospitalized patients died if they were given the drug. Speaking with reporters, White House Trader Advisor Peter Navarro said that "science says there's a high probability this has a prophylactic ability" and blamed the media for "hydroxy hysteria."       Roger Stone is seeking to delay the start of his prison sentence. His lawyers are asking the D.C. Court of Appeals to allow Stone to report to prison on September 3rd. He's scheduled to serve just over three years in prison on charges that include obstructing the House investigation into alleged Russian coordination with the Trump campaign during the 2016 election.       The girlfriend of a Fort Hood soldier could face 20 years in federal prison after being accused of helping her boyfriend dismember and bury a female soldier he killed with a hammer on an Army base in Texas. Cecily Aguilar appeared in a Texas federal court yesterday on a charge of conspiracy to tamper with evidence. An arrest affidavit says Aguilar told police she helped dispose of Army Specialist Vanessa Guillen's body near Fort Hood in late April.       New York State is fining Deutsche Bank 150-million-dollars in connection with Jeffrey Epstein. State financial service regulators say the bank failed to properly monitor Epstein's transactions that included payments for sex abuse victims. They argue the bank should have scrutinized the transactions given Epstein's history as a sex offender.       Ringo Starr is 80 years old today. Normally, the former Beatle celebrates his birthday with a lot of fanfare, on stage before fans while people celebrate in countries around the world. But thanks to COVID-19, Starr is celebrating online this year with a virtual charity concert set for 5 p.m. Pacific.
