Tuesday, October 4, 11, 18,25 at 6:00p.m. Gerald Loftin continues his dynamic discussions on retirement and getting yourself in a secure position. There is no cost for this program.

On Thursday, October 13 at 7:00p.m. we will offer a free concert open to the entire community by the Milford Community Chorus. The chorus is comprised of volunteers from Milford and the towns around it. We will be serenaded by a representative group of the chorus. Come and enjoy a cup of coffee/tea and a cookie and enjoy the concert.

Also on the 13 from 12-2 the Center offers a Prescription Brown Bag Event. Seniors are encouraged to come to the Center with their prescriptions in a brown bag and learn about their common uses, side-effects, and interactions with other medications. A Pharmacist will go over them with you. This includes: Prescription drugs, over the counter medications, herbal medications and vitamins and supplements. Please sign up at the front desk

Thursday, October 6 at 1:00 Blue Cross/Blue Shield of MA will be here to lead a Health Plan Options for Seniors, a discussion on seniors’ choices for a health plan for 2017. This is always interesting to come and learn what many of their plans offer. Please sign up at the front desk

Gary Hylander will offer his interpretation of the Harry Truman election, “Give Them Hell Harry”, at 1:30 on October 14. He will discuss the pivotal nature of the presidential election process and its impact on our everyday lives. This is a free discussion. Please call the front desk to sign up

Gary concludes his 2016 series on the Presidency on Friday October 28 with a discussion of the critical issues and the importance of television on the election debates between Kennedy and Nixon. This election was a cliff hanger and witnessed a record turnout. This free discussion begins at 1:30 and is open to the community. Please call the front desk to sign up.

As a departure from most of the serious programs offered at the Center, on Monday, October 17 at 8:30 those who have signed up for the New Hampshire Turkey Train Day Trip will leave the Center on their comfortable bus. They will then head to New Hampshire where they will board the train for a scenic fall foliage ride traveling through a woodsy setting. The Hart’s Turkey Farm Roast Turkey full course luncheon.
The cost of the trip is $80.00 plus $15.00 for the tip for the driver. This must be paid for 30 days prior to departure.

Tuesday, October 25 at either 10:00 a.m. or 6:30 p.m. our SHINE counselors will present the changes in Medicare for 2017. If you are new to Medicare, or contemplating changes in your coverage, you owe it to yourself to attend. Remember, open enrollment period runs from Oct. 15 to Dec. 7. Dancing through the Decades will offer a demonstration of their skills on October 25 at 1:00 p.m. Come and enjoy lunch at the center and stay for the show. Please sign up for the Show only, at the front desk.

Don’t forget to sign up for the Gift of Spit on Thursday, October 20 at 10:30. This enlightening discussion on the DNA identification in the pursuit of your genealogical origins. Presented by Seema Kenney, a very well- known and respected Genealogist. 

As a reminder, on November 10 at 11:30 we will offer our Tribute to Veterans with a luncheon that will cost the Vet nothing and will cost the rest of us, $8.00 . Vets are encouraged to sign up no later than
Friday, November 4. We will follow the luncheon with a concert by Howie Newman. He is a consummate guitar player and has a wide base of knowledge of music from the early part of the 20th century to today. We look forward to seeing you all come and share the meal and the tribute.
