Interim Report of the Statewide Grand Jury

On October 7, 2020, the Statewide Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Jose Dias Marmolejos with two counts of murder and two counts of possessing a firearm while committing a crime of violence. 

 

The alleged acts occurred in the city of Central Falls sometime on April 10, 2020. The Central Falls Police Department led the investigation with assistance from the Providence Police Department. 

 

The defendant is scheduled to be arraigned on October 21, 2020 in Providence County Superior Court. He is currently being held without bail at the Adult Correctional Institutions (ACI).

 

The CDC now says those who are fully vaccinated in coronavirus hot spots should wear masks indoors amid a surge in the Delta variant. Top White House medical adviser Dr. Anthony Fauci [[ FOW-chee ]] says he understands if the about face gives some people whiplash. Fauci said when those who are vaccinated get infected with that variant, they're more prone to spreading the virus.       Americans continue to pay more at the pump. That's according to Triple-A, which says the national average for regular is up to three-16 a gallon. That's three-tenths of a cent higher than yesterday.        Aides to former President Trump will be able to testify before committees investigating the January 6th Capitol attack. The New York Times says the Justice Department recently sent letters letting members of Congress know that veterans of the Trump administration are cleared to give testimony. Congressional panels are looking into Trump's efforts to reverse the 2020 election and the events leading up to the Capitol riot.       Congressional Democrats are urgently trying to pass infrastructure legislation. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer called it a "pivotal moment" in the world fight against the climate crisis. The New York Democrat said Republicans are the ones holding up comprehensive legislation he says will reestablish the U.S. as a global leader on climate.       The U.S. women's team is taking home the first ever Olympic gold medal in three-on-three basketball. They came out on top against the Russian Olympic Committee 18-15 in today's final. Earlier in the day, China took down France to win the bronze.       The nation's trade goods deficit widened to more than 91-point-two billion dollars in June. Trade analysts had forecast it narrowing to 87-billion. Last month's growth in the deficit follows two months of tightening.
