On October 7, 2020, the Statewide Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Jose Dias Marmolejos with two counts of murder and two counts of possessing a firearm while committing a crime of violence. 

 

The alleged acts occurred in the city of Central Falls sometime on April 10, 2020. The Central Falls Police Department led the investigation with assistance from the Providence Police Department. 

 

The defendant is scheduled to be arraigned on October 21, 2020 in Providence County Superior Court. He is currently being held without bail at the Adult Correctional Institutions (ACI).

 

Intelligence officials are alerting Americans of efforts from foreign adversaries to meddle in the 2020 election. Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe singled out Iran and Russia as trying to influence voters before November's contest. He said both countries have obtained voter registration information and Iran even sent spoofed emails designed to intimidate voters.       The campaign trail is leading to Florida for former President Obama. He will be in Miami on Saturday to continue touting Joe Biden's record in an effort to get the former vice president elected. Obama spent Wednesday holding events for the Democratic nominee in Pennsylvania.       Ireland is back on lockdown after coronavirus cases started to grow. Residents are being urged to stay home for the next six weeks. Schools will remain open, but all non-essential businesses will be closed.       A streaming service is calling it quits less than a year after launching. Officials for Quibi say its business model is no longer viable. It was created to be the next generation of storytelling, with chapters no longer than ten minutes.        The first space station team to ever launch during a pandemic is back safely on earth. NASA reported that on Wednesday night, astronaut Chris Cassidy and two Russian cosmonauts touched down outside Kazakhstan. Their mission to the International Space Station began April 9th.
