Tuesday, July 11  3:00- 4:30 Robin Putnam is presenting a well tested program on how to avoid scams and identity theft. This free program is available to the community as well as Seniors. Also on July 11 the Zentangle class will be offered from 5-7. Zentangle is a new way to approach drawing for those who think they can’t. This program is also excellent for people who have had strokes, or who suffer from tremors. The relaxation and techniques aid in strengthening muscles that have not been used for a long time. Please sign up at the front desk.  Because of a grant from the Harvard/Pilgrim Foundation, the first 10 people to sign up will pay $10 for the class and materiels. Those beyond the 10 will pay $15.00. Space is limited so sign up quickly.

 

Tuesday July 11 from 4:30-5:30 our Get Healthy program will start. This free program requires pre – registration. Call the front desk 508-657-2706. The program is designed to aid people to strengthen their core, their balance, learn new ways to eat and walk. Come and commit to three weeks, then you will be hooked.

 

On Wednesday, July 12 at 10:30, Marjorie Turner Holmann will present Easy Walks. This free program will show where there are easy walks around Bellingham that you can utilize at your leisure. Marjorie, who has written a book of the same name, will explain where to find them, how to find parking and other details of the walks. Please call to sign up.

 

On Thursday, July 13 at 1:00 will be a presentation by Herb Credon on The Dream Team, the 1967 Red Sox. Please sign up at the front desk for this free program.

On July 18 at 1:00 we will have our annual strawberry festival. Following indulging in strawberry shortcake, those who have signed up and paid $4.00 prior to the event, will be treated to a fabulous Elvis impersonator. Registration closes Friday, July 14.

 

July 18 at 7:00 p.m. Southern Rail will perform in our dining room. This great BlueGrass group has performed for us for several years to a packed room. The  cost of attending is a donation of durable goods for the food pantry. Please sign up at the front desk no later than July 14.

 

On Friday. July 21 at 10:30 Gary Hylalnder will continue his Treason Season with a discussion about Tokyo Rose. If you have not experienced this raconteur’s interpretation of history you have a wonderful experience to look forward to. Please sign up at the front desk for free program.

Former President Trump is back in a New York courtroom as jury selection in his criminal trial resumes. As of now, six jurors have been chosen after one was dismissed this morning. A panel of 12 along with six alternates must ultimately be selected.        911 service is being restored after a widespread outage was reported in four states yesterday. Authorities say residents in parts of Nebraska, Nevada, South Dakota and Texas were unable to call the number. Police say the service was finally restored late Wednesday night In Las Vegas and early this morning in parts of Nebraska.        President Biden will be endorsed by members of the Kennedy family in Philadelphia today. The endorsement is a rebuff of Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s independent run for the White House. Many in his family have broken with him politically over his views.       A Palestinian request for full UN membership will be voted on by the UN Security Council tomorrow. A council resolution needs at least nine votes to pass, and no vetoes by the U.S., Russia, China, France or Britain. The U.S. Ambassador to the UN on Wednesday did not appear in favor of the resolution, and said it would not "necessarily get us to a place" where we can find a two-state solution between Israel and the Palestinians.       The alibi defense for Idaho murder suspect Bryan Kohberger has been filed just ahead of the deadline. The 29-year-old Kohberger is accused of fatally stabbing four University of Idaho students in November of 2022, and has pleaded not guilty. Late Wednesday, Kohberger's lawyers submitted a ten-page filing that claimed he was out driving in the early morning hours of November 13th, "as he often did to hike and run and/or see the moon and stars."        The Philadelphia 76ers are in the NBA Playoffs after beating the Miami Heat in the Play-In Tournament last night. The Heat will now play the Chicago Bulls tomorrow for the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference tomorrow. Also tomorrow, the Sacramento Kings will play the New Orleans Pelicans for the eighth seed in the Western Conference.
