Stocks are soaring well into the black today. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up more than 730 points at one point during today's session. Companies leading the blue chip index include Walgreens and American Express.        The upcoming Winter Olympics in China are the subject of a diplomatic boycott by the White House. Press Secretary Jen Psaki [[ SAH-kee ]] said the U.S. is protesting China's ongoing human rights abuses. She explained the U.S. government will not be taking part in the "fanfare of the Games," but will be rooting for American athletes.        The state of Texas is being sued by the Justice Department over its voter redistricting. U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland said voters should choose their representatives, not the other way around. Garland said Texas' redistricting plans hinder access to voting and are based on discriminatory practices.       Kentucky Derby winner Medina Spirit died of a heart attack. Trainer Bob Baffert confirmed the horse's death that happened today at Santa Anita in southern California. The horse was caught up in a controversy following the race after it failed a drug test.        The Minneapolis police chief will not be seeking a third term in office. Medaria Arradondo made his retirement announcement Monday. He became Minneapolis' first Black Chief of Police in 2017, guiding the department through a turbulent era following the murder of George Floyd by former officer Derek Chauvin [[ SHO-vin ]].        Grimes is appearing to shade her ex, Elon Musk, in her new song 'Player of Games.' Grimes sings about being in love with the 'greatest gamer,' which many think is a reference to her former boyfriend.
