The Dow Jones Industrial Average nosedived over 11-hundred points today for its worst loss since 2020. No Dow component finished higher on the session. The sell-off extended to the rest of the market as yesterday's buying spree was short-lived.        The Department of Homeland Security issues a memo regarding threats from abortion extremists. The internal memo told law enforcement partners to be prepared for threats that include burning down the U.S. Supreme Court and murdering justices, members of Congress and lawful demonstrators. There have already been recent protests against Supreme Court justices following the leak of a draft opinion which signaled the Roe v. Wade abortion decision would be overturned.        President Biden says the government is ready for another active hurricane season. He made the comment before a briefing on hurricane preparedness at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland. Biden noted climate change and also talked about the prospects for more wicked wildfires in the western U.S.        The White House is being pressed on Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell's warning that more interest rate hikes may be necessary until inflation is curbed. During a briefing, Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre [[ kar-EENE jhan pea AIR ]] noted that the Fed is an independent entity. Powell's warning prompted stocks to tumble.        A winner is yet to be declared in the race for the Republican nomination for Pennsylvania's open U.S. Senate seat. Dr. Mehmet Oz and former hedge fund CEO David McCormick are in a virtual dead heat. The race is expected to head to an automatic recount.        McDonald's is adding a new McFlurry to their lineup just in time for summer. The Chocolatey Pretzel McFlurry will go on sale for a limited time started May 25th. It features vanilla ice cream and chocolate-covered pretzel bits, topped with caramel sauce.
