The White House says President Biden spoke to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis Tuesday night to discuss steps the government is taking to help the state prepare for Hurricane Ian. Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre made the announcement in a tweet as the Category Three hurricane is expected to make landfall Wednesday. Some areas are bracing for ten to 12 feet of storm surge and massive amounts of rain.       Airports in central and western Florida are shutting down as Hurricane Ian approaches. St. Pete-Clearwater International and Tampa International are now closed. Meantime, all operations will stop at Orlando International at 10:30 Wednesday morning.       The Senate is voting to advance funding the government through mid-December as a Friday deadlines looms to avoid a shutdown. The stopgap bill would keep the government running until December 16th, with additional aid for Ukraine, natural disaster assistance and funds to help with the water crisis in Jackson, Mississippi, among other items. The deadline to pass the measure is Friday at midnight.       The committee investigating last year's Capitol attack is postponing its hearing that's set for tomorrow. In a tweet, the panel confirmed it's being moved as Hurricane Ian bears down on Florida. A new date will be announced soon.       At least one student is dead and multiple others are injured after a drive-by shooting near a high school in Philadelphia. Police say it happened Tuesday, when football players at Roxborough High School were walking off the football field after a scrimmage. A 14-year-old boy succumbed to his injuries after he was rushed to a local hospital.        The NFL's Cleveland Browns are updating the status of star Myles Garrett after Monday's single-car accident. After Garrett was discharged from the hospital, the team said he suffered a shoulder sprain, biceps strain and minor lacerations. He and a female passenger were treated for non-life threatening injuries near Cleveland after the vehicle flipped several times.
