STATE HOUSE – Rep. Brandon T. Voas (D-Dist. 57, Cumberland, Central Falls) will be hosting an open meeting for the public to meet with representatives from Rhode Island Energy on Wednesday, March 26, at 6 p.m. at the Cumberland Public Library, located at 1464 Diamond Hill Rd #1, Cumberland.

“This meeting is an opportunity for the public to engage with representatives from Rhode Island Energy to ask questions and voice their concerns about the rapidly rising energy prices that are affecting us all.  It will cover how the various costs on utility bills are broken down and what can be done to lower the bill amounts that our residents are struggling with every month.  I encourage everyone to join us on March 26 to have their voices heard and their concerns addressed,” said Representative Voas.

Cumberland Mayor Jeff Mutter, Sen. Ryan W. Pearson (D-Dist. 19, Cumberland, Lincoln), Rep. Alex D. Marszalkowski (D-Dist. 52, Cumberland), Rep. Mia A. Ackerman (D-Dist. 45, Cumberland, Lincoln) and Town Council President Mike Kinch are also expected to attend the meeting.

A new study published in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute showed that patients recovering from lung cancer surgeries within an active wildfire zone needed longer hospital stays than those in areas with no fires. The longer stays could be attributed to the reluctance of health care providers to discharge patients because of the environment, including housing or safety issues.        The woman who accused Jay-Z of rape says he didn't assault her.
