Registration for Summer Reading Programs at the Library

 

Staring Monday June 25th  sign up at the library for all of our great programs including

 

Program Registration: Books Are Wings & Farm Fresh RI snacks @ Monday June 25th 11am

Lego Club @  Fridays June 29–August 24th 10:30-11:30am

Book Buddies for 1st & 2nd graders @ Wednesdays July 11, 18,  Aug 1st  3-4pm

Learn Chinese Ages 7-11 @ Thurdays July 5, 12, 19, 26 Aug 2, 9 4-5:30pm

In addition to these programs, there will be many more programs including STEAM programs based on Earth Science.

For students entering Kindergarten Through 5th grade. Read 3 books from the time school ends to the week before school starts. Come to the children’s room of the Woonsocket Harris Public Library and hand in your reading response form for the book you read. We will write the title on a special reading record and you will put a sticker next to your name on our star reader chart  every time you read a book up to 6 books you get a prize. Kids get to pick a prize out of the prize box & choose a free book. Other prizes will be given just for reading. Reporting on book read begins week of July 2nd.

 

Funding and support for the Statewide RI Summer Reading Program includes a grant from the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services through the RI Office of Library & Information Services,  Pawtucket Red Sox. All 12 jurors in former President Donald Trump's criminal hush money trial in New York City are now seated. The jury that will decide the fate of the first ex-president in American history to stand trial on criminal charges consists of seven men and five women, and now six alternates must be selected. Trump is accused of falsifying business records in order to cover up payments allegedly made to an adult film star just prior to the 2016 election.        Israel says it launched a limited strike at several sites in Iran last night. U.S. officials confirm Israel struck a number of locations inside Iran, with no word yet on whether there were any casualties. Several explosions were reported near an airbase in the Iranian city of Isfahan, home to a number of sites linked to Iran's nuclear program.       A Maryland high school student is facing charges after police say he planned a school shooting. The Montgomery County Department of Police says authorities found a 129-page document the 18-year-old wrote. The writings were allegedly about committing a school shooting, and detailed strategies for how to carry it out.       Police in Milwaukee say they've found more remains they think are those of a missing woman. Sade [[ Shah-DAY ]] Robinson has been missing since earlier this month when she went on a date with the man now being held in connection to her death. Deputies said someone found an arm and a torso while walking along the beach in South Milwaukee yesterday.       The National Park Service is encouraging Americans to get out and explore to kick off National Park Week. All National Park sites that charge an admission fee will be free to enter tomorrow. National Park Week runs through April 28th and each day includes a theme such as discovery, volunteering and Earth Day.       The final two spots in the NBA Playoffs will be locked up today. The Miami Heat will play host to the Chicago Bulls in a battle for the eighth-seed in the Eastern Conference. In other Play-In Tournament action, the New Orleans Pelicans will welcome De'Aaron Fox and the Sacramento Kings to the Big Easy for the final spot in the West.
