Early yesterday the Woonsocket Water Department advised that maintenance on that system’s water storage tank on Rhodes Ave would require the tank to be drained and off line for up to three weeks. Given that circumstance, to avoid a condition where system pressure could be reduced to unacceptable levels, the Slatersville Water Company is delaying its flushing program scheduled for this week until after that tank work is complete. Woonsocket Water is taking actions to sustain our system functions at all times, but it is prudent to advise that customers in the area of Mendon Road, Branch Village, Forestdale and Slatersville may still realize periodic pressure reductions while the work is being done on the Rhodes Ave tank.

We are also asking that our industrial users in the Branch Village and North Smithfield industrial parks avoid unusually large draws of water unless notice and coordination is arranged with our water superintendent Russ Carpenter. Maintenance periods such as these fit into the category of temporary inconvenience for long term benefit. We ask for understanding and patience as the work is done.
